ViewSonic VX2240w 22-inch Digital/Analog Widescreen LCD Monitor

March 11th, 2010 by phongsathonl

±69± Cheap ViewSonic VX2240w 22-inch Digital/Analog Widescreen LCD Monitor Today!

ViewSonic VX2240w 22-inch Digital/Analog Widescreen LCD Monitor ViewSonic 22″ VX2240w widescreen LCD delivers unparalleled performance with ULTRA-FAST video response as fast as 2ms, 4000:1 DYNAMIC CONTRAST RATIO (typ) and SUPER-HD 1680X1050 RESOLUTION. Games, HD movies, videos and graphic-intensive applications have never looked better on your desktop. This Vista premium certified widescreen display enhances productivity by allowing you to view two documents side-by-side or to work in two applications without toggling. Connect your game console, DVD player and other components through the DIGITAL (DVI-D) AND ANALOG INPUTS. The Kensington security port provides theft deterrence and the OSD and power lock prevent unauthorized changes to your optimal screen settings.

I use an external monitor with my Macbook for e-mail, Web surfing, documents, and look at my photos. So my requirements are not as sophisticated as that of a graphic artist or professional photographer. I just need a monitor, easy to configure, easy on the eyes, and is looking for a beautiful display. I bought this monitor to a Samsung 226 BW, "died" after only two years to replace, and I am very happy with my purchase.

Setup could not be easier. To move the monitor in itsbase - no screws or tools required, not even an "elbow grease." There are no back walls removed so that the power cord and DVI cable was simple. Note that some monitors to conceal these groups to have the wires, but this is not a consideration for me since the back of my monitor is facing a wall. In addition, the foundation is more durable, but cheap looking plastic, and the monitor itself is made out not looking very stylish (it has a dull matte finish on the front frame) - none of whichConsiderations for me, but for some people matter.

This is a Plug and Play monitor. Even if it comes with a CD for installation of certain drivers, the CD will only work with a PC running Windows, but not with a Mac. But it did not matter because it has the monitor works fine when I plugged in

The monitor can be tilted slightly to adapt to your preferences.

The most important contribution when you complained that the dynamic contrast off function, it will go againautomatically when the monitor is turned on and off, change resolution, or come out of standby mode. But that review was written fourteen months ago, and on the monitor, which I bought to keep the dynamic contrast function continues at home. Therefore Viewsonic seems to have this issue addressed in the recent production of this monitor.

Note for users who Macbook Leopard: Follow these steps to shut the monitor with your MacBook, use:
1. Connect the video cable (monitorcomes with both VGA and DVI) and power cord to the monitor. Then connect the video cable to the Macbook.
2. IMPORTANT: You must buy one of Apple's proprietary adapter to connect the video cable to hook up your MacBook.
3. Turn on the monitor and turn on your MacBook.
4. Go to System Preferences, Display, order and check the box for "mirror displays."
5. Connect your MacBook and let it go to sleep.
6. Use an external mouse or keyboard to wake the MacBook closed. The displayappear on the external monitor after about a minute. Open the System Preferences screen, and select 1680×1050 resolution.

If you shut the Macbook at the bottom, then start the next time when you close switch on the MacBook, the lid and after a few minutes the display on the external monitor is displayed.

Like other reviews have seen, this monitor is not much more demanding adjustments to calibrate the monitor. For the average consumer whogoing to the monitor for the purposes that I mentioned, this is not a problem to use.

Conclusion: This is a very nice monitor for the money. However, if you control a monitor, the more stylish and has seen enhanced calibration, you should consider something else. For my purposes, it is only good. The screen is nice and clear and the colors are vibrant.

LCD backlight for HDTV

March 10th, 2010 by phongsathonl

Image : http://www.flickr.com

LCD is winning the race to be the dominant display technology for HDTV. According to DisplaySearch, in 2007, the market for LCD (liquid crystal diode) TVs was estimated at $ 27.4 billion euros. LCD TV shipments rose more than expected 52% year on year in the second quarter of 2008 to just under 7.5 million units (79.8% of total sales of HDTV).

The LCD screen on an LCD HDTV is a selective light filters. It is not in itself emit light, but selectivelyFilter light through the display from behind. Most HDTVs have either offer a single sheet of luminescent plastic or side lighting with fluorescent lamps for the backlight. Both techniques are difficult to control.

Many consumers focus on the screen resolution when selecting a High Def (HDTV) system. Is HDTV 720p, 1020i or 1020P? However, when a group of experts, the SMPTE (Society of Motion Pictures and Television Engineers), recently on the importance of the screenResolution, so the fourth rank. The SMPTE Rank contrast ratio, color saturation, color temperature and grayscale before the screen resolution in importance. The Imaging Science Foundation to a similar conclusion. Backlight is the key component for improving the contrast ratio and grayscale.

It is important that an LCD system allows for adjusting the height of the backlight, and preferably, this function automatically. This improves the contrast of the image. In addition, a reduced backlight also reduce power consumption and extend the life of the lamp, as the power used and the lamp life is directly related to the brightness of the backlight in context. A lamp with 50,000 hours life at 6 mA may be a 30,000 hour lifetime, if the current 7 mA, only 1 milliamp higher (example: Sharp Electronics LCD) display.

Another important factor in the choice of the backlight is the light of the "fuzziness". Blur occurs when there is rapid movement in theProgramming, such as sports. If the picture changes rapidly, the pixels can lay in the reaction. Effective backlighting engineering can be a significant reduction of strobe the backlight, so the individual pixels will be no longer than necessary on. Examples of this technology are Philips' Aptura "and the Samsung" LED Motion Plus. "

Sidelight

With side lighting, the lighting on the back of the LCD panel is, and build on each side of the panelLighting. To the light more uniform, a light diffuser between the lights and the rear of the optical filter module is located. Most LCD systems with fixed light use cold cathode fluorescent tubes (CCF) lamps. This technology offers a very bright white light. The lifetime of the lamps) is usually between 10,000 to 20,000 hours (6-12 years at a rate of 5 hours use per day.

The main disadvantage is that the intensity of the light will not vary locally, andSide lighting can not look uniform. Some CCF lamps contain mercury. This is an ecological disadvantage.

The main disadvantages:

The intensity of light can not be varied locally. This leads to a lower contrast image.
The light is not uniform.
Some CCF lamps contain mercury.

Conventional backlight

Most of the backlight is performed with a single sheet of electroluminescent plastic. These plates can age (although improvements have reduced this problem in this area).Electroluminescent backlight panel using phosphors to produce colored light. Shows using this technique can be thin and light and provide uniform light distribution.

The main disadvantages:

Limited life span from 3000 to 5000 hours to half brightness (2-3 years) at a rate of 5 hours use per day.
The intensity of light can not be varied locally.

LED backlight

LED-backlit display uses an array of LEDs can be controlled individually to offer very goodControl. In this configuration, a large number of LEDs are mounted uniformly behind the display. Improvements in LED brightness, they have more practical for backlighting. NEC pioneered this technique with the monitor, which 2180WG. Other companies such as Samsung, have recently versions of this technology. This should push prices down (the Samsung model costs less than 1 / 3 the price of a comparable NEC monitor).

This system offers local dimming technologycan attain and a dynamic contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1. True actual black levels (the "Holy Grail" of the LCD) will be reached by turning off a pixel source. This can eliminate the typical gray-black screen for many LCD HDTVs. Groups of LEDs can be controlled locally, so that produce more light, making the brightness when necessary.

The problem with conventional white LEDs is that their non-spectrum is ideal for photographic reproduction, because they are blue in the bottomLEDs with a yellow phosphor on top. Their spectrum has two peaks, one in blue and another in yellow. White LEDs, which are based on a group of red, green and blue LEDs based on the RGB color filters, an LCD is ideal and can result in the saturated colors. Sony's "Tri-color LED backlight system is an example of this technique.
Sometimes, these HDTVs have a number of LEDs on the top and bottom of the screen. This improves the brightness and color reproduction and enablesalmost complete uniformity across the display.

LED-backlit display are much more efficient that alternative techniques. And since the LED-backlit waste less energy, generate less heat, which must be managed with air conditioning. LED-backlit display offers a long life of more than 50,000 hours (more than 25 years) use a rate of 5 hours per day.

LED backlighting systems can not show well in a typical retail environment. In general, the screens to be somewhat reflectiveachieve the high contrast ratio, and later, a brightly lit showroom may not flatter this technology. In a typical less-lit environment, this problem should not be so noticeable.

Engineering concerns

The electronics is simpler, with LED backlighting. Cold-cathode fluorescent (CCF) requires a high AC voltages (1500 VAC) at startup and operating voltages of 700 VAC or more. When the lamp is new so they can run a lot less tension, but with the age ofTypically increase voltage requirements, a designer complicates the problem. A light box requires a voltage of 100 VAC @ 400 Hz.

Generate an inverter (to VAC) for both CCF and electroluminescent panels required to operate with a DC power supply. This is a significant effort, cost, size and weight of the system. The best converter for this application allows the output voltage to the lamps automatically increase as age, extending the useful life of theLamps.

LCD with LED backlight systems use low voltage DC, usually 12 or 24 VDC. This results in a smaller, simpler and more reliable system. LED backlight systems must be well chilled or their performance may suffer. The LEDs generate less heat than CCF lamps, but the heat is very concentrated. Operation at high temperatures reduces the LED lifetime and shifts its spectrum of light, while reducing output luminance.

OLED

A new technology that you arehear in the future is Organic LED (OLED). This technology has a completely different backlight technology, he does not need this book. For this reason, they draw much less power. And because it's no backlight, an OLED system has a larger angle than an LED system. An OLED display is much thinner than an LCD display. The response time for OLED is faster than normal LCD screens. An average of 8 to 12 milliseconds response time is normal for an LCD, comparedto 0.01 millisecond response time for OLED.

Sony introduced a 11 "HDTV at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The new 11" Sony TV is called the "XEL-1". It is very thin (1 / 10 ") and currently sells for $ 2500 Samsung showed a 31" OLED HDTV with 1080p resolution at a trade show in Asia in November. LG, Toshiba, Matsushita (Panasonic), and other investments are hundreds of millions of dollars to develop this extremely promising technology. Toshiba has plans to sell a 30 "OLED — Display in 2009. Samsung has announced that they sell large-size OLED screen HDTV in 2010.

OLED displays are used for some time in digital cameras, mobile phones and other devices with relatively small panels, because they are very energy efficient, which is very important in portable devices.

In theory, OLED displays can be produced more favorable than LCD or plasma displays, which means that it should not be so expensive. Note that the first major> LCD and Plasma displays were much more expensive when they were first introduced.

Abstract

LCD HD televisions and monitors with LED-array backlight are now the concept of choice because they have a better image quality, while saving and electricity. The ability to locally control light power is the key to high contrast ratio.

Use of Touch Screen Monitors

March 7th, 2010 by phongsathonl

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The touch-screen monitor has been around almost as long as computers themselves. In 1971, invented by Dr Samuel Hurst they have found a use in a variety of applications.

The main advantage of the touch screen monitor is that it acts as both input and output device. A single touch screen monitor to replace an existing CRT (Cathode Ray Tube), plasma or LCD screen and replace the keyboard and mouse.

Touch-screen monitors work bya variety of different methods, but the basic function of using a graphical user interface (GUI) that is sensitive to the touch of fundamental importance for all approaches.

Affect the recognition of a person is by several methods, most commonly made with the resistive, capacitive, infrared and acoustic wave.

Various methods are to be met for the various functions that a touch-screen may be required. For example, resistive touch screens work with conductive and a resistive metallic layersan arc between normal glass. An electric current flows through the two layers and when a user touches the screen, causing disturbances in the electrical box and then the computer calculates the coordinates.

Resistive touch screens are very durable, although they can scratch, which can reduce their efficiency, but overall they are the most versatile.

While using surface acoustic wave technology in some touch screen uses ultrasonic waves that pass over the panel. When the panel is touched, a portion of the wave is absorbed and they are measured identifying the location of the touch. Unfortunately surface wave panels are easily damaged and contaminants on the surface will hinder its function but it provides greater clarity than the resistive system making them better suited to laboratory work.

Capacitive touch screens, which are electrically charged, which is saturated when a user touches, rather than as an ohmic resistance system usesthem more durable. Capacitive touch screens are therefore a mainstay of industrial computers because of their durability and their resistance to moisture, dirt and grease. Other touch-screen technology, including infrared, or DMS are also used, but are less common.

Touch screens are a real alternative to the standard monitor, mouse and keyboard assembly adding better durability and resistance to contaminants while also waiving the need for wires and peripheralsThis makes them ideal for industrial or manufacturing purposes.
